Open Wide!

Well it's 3:30 p.m. and Angela just got her epidural.  She says that it is wonderful!  She went from an 8 on the pain scale to basically nothing. (I can't help it, when I wrote that I just thought of Brian Reagan saying "Say 8, Say 8!") She is dilated to 5 cm, so the doctor says she should start progressing pretty quickly.
Predicted delivery time 8:30 pm..... we'll see if baby wants to come by then.

She's Coming!!...Finally

Well, 4 days after her due date, we're sending in pitocin to kick Tangie/Markina/Shigella out of her comfy little home.  We did not think that we would make it into the hospital today, so Angela had not done her make-up yet... so she's just doing it now.It's 10:00 a.m., we'll keep you updated on the progress.

Going Crazy

Still no baby! We've been trying to induce labor by choosing walking activities like going to Kima Boardwalk to see the ocean, going to the Natural History Museum, and taking walks around the neighborhood. All of these cause my contractions to start up and they are quite intense, but then they die down after an hour or so.

I went to my doctor yesterday (Tuesday) and discussed inducing me. I told him I wanted to be induced as soon as possible because my parents are in town and I would hate for them to fly home without seeing the baby! So, he called the hospital to put me into the system and I was told not to eat or drink after midnight, then to call the hospital at 5:30 am to see if I could come in. So last night we made sure everything was packed for the hospital bag (which has been packed since the first week of July) charged up our phones, ipod, and camera battery and went to bed a little anxious.

This morning I woke up and called the hospital at 5:30am only to learn that they didn't have any open beds for me and to call back at 9am. At 9 I called back and was told I was 3rd in line for being induced, and maybe by 11 I could come in. So I still haven't had a bite to eat or a sip of water since last night and I'm anxiously trying to stay busy doing things around the house to distract myself. If lots of women come into the hospital this morning going into natural labor then I will just have to wait until tomorrow and repeat this process all over again. Sigh. I might have gone insane by that point.

UPDATE: Well, LOTS of lucky women went into labor naturally today and so the inducing has been rescheduled for tomorrow. I may have to accept the fact that I am just going to be pregnant forever.

Was bed rest really necessary??

Today is September 5th, the baby's due date, and still NO BABY!

My parents have flown out from Utah to see the baby. When they bought their tickets we thought that the baby would definitely be here by now. We are doing everything possible to induce labor. We've walked through the Galleria, IKEA, took a long walk today... all of these have started hard, 5 minute apart contractions, but as soon as I laid down they would go away. (I can't go to the hospital until I have had 90 minutes of 5 minute apart contractions while laying down) Looks like Tangie/Shigella/Brucella/Markina is quite comfy where she is at and has no desire to change her living situation.
