Sprucin' up the appartment

I visited my family in Utah over conference weekend and everyone told me they were disappointed I had stopped writing on our blog. So I committed to write more frequently. I know this is a boring post to start with, but I really don't have much else to write about! A few weeks ago I bought a new bedspread, sheets, and bed skirt. I have been dreaming for years of owning a beautiful white bedspread. I will probably regret this since white is so easily stained, but it is so PRETTY!
I have also been dreaming of the day when I could own sheets over 200-count (Don't laugh at my silly, frivolous dreams). I was ecstatic when I found these beauties... I was very particular about the color. I wanted a teal that was more grey-blue than green-blue, AND these were 500-count. AH! the luxury of sleeping in 500-count sheets! (again, don't laugh)

I even found this pillow that matches perfectly! it's not even the same company, isn't that crazy?

Mock Wedding Pictures

This summer at my sister Ashley's wedding, the photographer (who is one of my mom's best friends) offered to take some mock wedding pictures for me and Jeff. We did not have a proffessional photographer at our wedding, so I was really excited to take some more pictures.

I borrowed my sister Jessica's wedding dress and my mom's white slippers she was married in, my mom bought some flowers in my wedding colors and made me a boquet, and then we drove up to the Bountiful Temple.

At the time when we were married, none of the leaves had come out on the trees yet, nor had many flowers bloomed. This time, everything was green and in full bloom.

I LOVE these pictures! We hung both the temple pictures on our wall next to one of our real wedding pictures. It's like an inside joke when people comment on the pictures when they come over to our house. Jessica's dress was very similar to mine so you can't even tell much of a difference. But we know, and now, so do you!

Another Trip to the Beach

At the end of August, we took another trip to the beach with our friends. This time we hit Stewart Beach in Galveston.
At Stewart Beach you can drive your car right up to the edge of the water. We finally got to try out our awesome new beach towel (thanks Ashley, Eric, Keith, and Jessica!), beach umberella, and boogey boards!

I'm a Winner!

One of the reasons why I have not updated the blog in a while is because I have discovered GoogleReader. I may be addicted. I follow a lot of blogs, and one of them is RoseHip. Rose Hip had a giveaway last week, and I won a bunch of fabric! I found out 3 days ago, and I am still giddy. I never win anything, ever!

This pile of beautiful fabric will soon be mine! I still debating what to make out of it. A quilt like this one would be really fun, but I have two finished quilts waiting to be tied off in my closet already (My demin quilt and my flannel quilt- I will post about these soon). Any ideas? What would you make with this fabric?

Family Day

The day after the White Coat Ceremony was Family day at Baylor. Its an event Baylor hosts for the first year med students' families to come and see Baylor. Janie and Amy were sweet and came with us.

Jeff was able to show us the classrooms and auditoriums he spends most of his time in. These pictures are in his Quad, it is a study area designated for a specific group of students. This is where Jeff and I eat lunch together most days (when I don't have any meetings).

Isn't this an incredible view? The building you see to the left is the Jewish wing, which is where I work.

The highlight of the day was going to an anatomy lab. They had lots of brains and hearts and lungs in jars of formaldehyde that we could touch. They wouldn't let us see Jeff's cadaver, which was probably a good thing. The smell was terrible, it made me slightly nauseous. Amy and Jeff on the otherhand were in their element! Pointing out the structures of the organs while I stood back and took pictures.
