Surfside
It's May, and has felt like summer here in Texas since mid-February. We are also experiencing a major drought here. So when Angela's sisters planned to come out here last week, we thought it would be the perfect time to hit the beach!... little did we know that they would bring some Utah weather with them. It rained their first day here, for the first time in months. It was also rather cool-- well for Texas, it was in the low 80s.
Regardless, we decided to head to our favorite local beach called Surfside. It's not a very pretty beach, but you can drive your car right up to the ocean, so it makes it very convenient.
Christine's first reaction to the beach: "Gross! Very dirty! Why would anyone want to play in dirt?!?
Mom do you have some hand sanitizer?!?"
Though she did not really like the sand or the water which was a bit cold, we brought lots of toys that she really liked. Her favorites were a pin wheel, bubbles, and a new pink bucket
She also loved being carried by Mommy and Daddy!
We went on a walk on the beach in her stroller, and she loved when the waves would hit the stroller.
"Daddy, I'm just going to take a nap. Do you mind carrying me around... pleeeaassee?"

Exploring
As soon as Christine started crawling, she began exploring the house. It didn't take her very long to discover the door stoppers
... I think it took about 5 minutes after realizing she could crawl off the blanket to zoom over behind the door.
Immediately she learned what a fun "bwong" sound they make when you pull on them.
See that white cushion top on the door stopper? It comes off. NOT GOOD. So I super glued all of the white cushions to the metal springs with my amazing E-6000 glue. Those things are never coming off!
...hopefully the apartment complex owners don't mind!

8 Months
After Blogger deleted our Mother's Day post, that Jeff had to rewrite and repost, I've been hesitant to blog again... okay, I've been busy and didn't put blogging on the top of my to-do list. Only the top 5 or 6 items on my to-do list get done each day. How do mom's with multiple kids do it? I haven't showered yet today, and it's 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
Christine is now 8 months old. Seriously, each month with her get more and more fun. Her personality is just shinning through, and it's so fun!
We've added meat to her diet, well, we've tried to add meat to her diet. I gave her a little bit of Gerber pureed chicken that she gagged on and spat out. It smelt horrid and I didn't blame her for not wanting to eat it (it smelt like canned chicken, I hate the smell of canned chicken, is that weird? I only use canned chicken in meals where chicken isn't the main ingredient and is covered in so many other things you can't taste the chicken). I bought some Earth's Best "Turkey Dinner" which is squash and turkey. She likes it much better than the plain chicken but it's definitely not on the list of favorites. It probably ranks next to peas.
3 weeks ago, Christine turned into a crawler. She "army crawls" on her belly using her arms to pull her forward. She can move pretty fast and likes to explore the house. She'll pause to get on her hands and knees and tries to move forward, but will only rock back and forth, then decide to keep moving on that tummy.
Today she pulled herself up to standing. Using the couch to hold her up. WHAT? she only started crawling 3 weeks ago.
About an hour after I texted the grandmas pictures of her standing to celebrate the milestone, I put my finger in Christine's mouth to ensure that the reason she was being so grouchy today wasn't due to teething... except that there was a sharp little tooth in there! haha first tooth AND standing in one day. What a busy baby!

Meeting Pioneer Woman
Pioneer Woman mentioned on her blog last week that on Friday she was coming to Houston for a book signing. (PW just wrote a children's book about her Basset Hound Charlie). I immediately asked my friend Katie who shares my love for PW (In fact, Katie was the one who introduced me to PW 2 years ago- Katie I owe you big!) if she was going. Of course she was! Excellent.
Katie got us tickets and we all met up to wait in line together. Katie and Sean scored us this awesome table outside. We had a long wait so it was nice that we could sit as we waited for our color to be called.
We got some pizza and ate as Christine, Liam, and Dash stared at each other in their strollers trying to grab each other's feet and binkies.
We also played with Liam and Dash's cool finger puppets
Finally they called our color (pink) and we got in line to go into the store.
While waiting in line we fed Christine some bananas and then she spat them up all over Jeff. Oh dear.
When we finally got to go into the store the babies were getting grumpy. It was well past their bedtimes.
Christine amused herself with a plastic cup (it was windy outside, hence the crazy hair)

Then, finally, there she was! Ree Drummond, PW! I was so giddy to meet her!
She was amazing! She signed my copies of The Pioneer Woman Cooks, Black Heels to Tractor Wheels, and of course, Charlie the Ranch Dog. and I told her that I made her Chicken Pot Pie for dinner the night before. 
Ree loved Christine and signed Christine's book with "Love to Christine, you're so cute!"
Christine grabbed Ree's hair (oh dear!)
What an awesome mother's day present.
