Meeting Pioneer Woman

Pioneer Woman mentioned on her blog last week that on Friday she was coming to Houston for a book signing. (PW just wrote a children's book about her Basset Hound Charlie). I immediately asked my friend Katie who shares my love for PW (In fact, Katie was the one who introduced me to PW 2 years ago- Katie I owe you big!) if she was going. Of course she was! Excellent.

Katie got us tickets and we all met up to wait in line together. Katie and Sean scored us this awesome table outside. We had a long wait so it was nice that we could sit as we waited for our color to be called.

We got some pizza and ate as Christine, Liam, and Dash stared at each other in their strollers trying to grab each other's feet and binkies.

We also played with Liam and Dash's cool finger puppets

Finally they called our color (pink) and we got in line to go into the store.
While waiting in line we fed Christine some bananas and then she spat them up all over Jeff. Oh dear. When we finally got to go into the store the babies were getting grumpy. It was well past their bedtimes.Christine amused herself with a plastic cup (it was windy outside, hence the crazy hair)

Then, finally, there she was! Ree Drummond, PW! I was so giddy to meet her!

She was amazing! She signed my copies of The Pioneer Woman Cooks, Black Heels to Tractor Wheels, and of course, Charlie the Ranch Dog. and I told her that I made her Chicken Pot Pie for dinner the night before.

Ree loved Christine and signed Christine's book with "Love to Christine, you're so cute!"

Flowers for Mother's Day

Every day Christine likes to go on at least one walk outside. Last weekend, she had a special plan for her walk. She was going to walk through meadows of clover and collect some flowers for her mom on Mother's day. Unfortunately, we are in a serious drought here in Houston, so all we could find were some little grass weeds. Christine told me, "Don't worry Daddy. I have an outstanding singing voice, so mommy won't even notice."

--Enter house, Baby says- "Mommy, we brought you a surprise... I often go walking through meadows of clover and I gather arm fulls of blossoms abloom." (I changed the words of the song from "blossoms of blue" to "blossoms abloom" because not all flowers are blue but they are all abloom.)

"I gather the blossoms the whole meadow over..."

"Dear..." man these flowers look awfully tasty.

I'll just take a little bite... Oh wait I'm singing.

I forgot! "Dear Mommy all flowers remind me of you!!"

Don't worry baby told me that although the grass flowers were cute, that I'd better get Angela some real flowers too.

So we went to Lowe's and picked up some Pink Gerbera Daisies and yellow, orange, and white Zinnias. Christine helped us put them in the pots in front of our apartment.

Angela- "Baby, don't eat your stroller strap."

Baby- "I know what would taste better..."

"... your flowers!"

Nothing makes Christine happier than riding on Daddy's shoulders!

New bunny in town

We call our new easter bunny Little Bunny Foo Foo

One day I was singing Little Bunny Foo Foo to Christine and Jeff had a puzzled look on his face. "WHAT are you singing?" He had never heard of the song. How is that possible? It's like not knowing the story of Goldilocks and the 3 bears.

Christine's favorite part of the song is the "bopping" part:

Moving

I think it's time to get a video camera, but until we get one you will have to enjoy the frame-by-frame caption of Christine moving but not quite crawling.

At the time, I was trying to get a picture of Christine with her Easter bunnies. One from Gigi and the other from her Great Grandma.

Christine wouldn't look at the camera, she was distracted. "Ooh, what's that? Did mom leave the camera lens cover on the ground?"

"I'm going for it!"

"Move out of the way bunnies, I've got to get on my tummy!"

"Got it!"

"Quick, gotta turn around so mom can't see what I have. After all that work I don't want her to take it away from me!"
