Discovery No. 2

Continuing on with the 6 month milestones... Christine has discovered more than her long tongue this month. She also found her toes.

and those toes are quite delicious!

Inherited Traits

This week I want to highlight all of Christine's milestones/activities/favorite things she's doing right now at 6 months. I would do it all in one post, but I only get little bits of time here and there to post. 

I usually am told that Christine looks more like Jeff. She has his toes and his ears and his chin. But I am happy  to report that we discovered something she inherited from me... my tongue! 

You see, I have a very long tongue.

and Christine just discovered that she does too

On the day that Christine discovered her tongue, that tongue stayed out of her mouth the whole day! It was hilarious to watch her explore and experiment with her tongue. She kept sticking it out and moving it all around. Now it only comes out at mealtime. She has so much fun seeing what that tongue can do with food... like spraying mom with bright orange carrot mush... when mom was wearing a new shirt (WHY was mom wearing a new shirt during a feeding??? postpartum brain damage).

6 months old!

My baby is 6 months old today. I still can't grasp that concept. I really do not believe that much time has passed. Maybe it has something to do with my memory loss (pregnancy destroyed all of my memory cells in my brain and they are slowly growing back).

I took Christine to her 6-month checkup yesterday. Here's her stats-

Weight: 14 lbs 14 oz (25th percentile)

Height: 26 inches (60th percentile)

Head circumference: 17 inches (75th percentile)

The doctor wasn't worried about her weight being so low. But I'm still going to add another meal to our day. I am hoping that her weight actually is a little higher because I just added a second meal last week (oatmeal cereal, yum) and she had a massive bowel movement about 5 minutes before her weight was measured.

Rolling over!

Christine is getting very good at rolling over from her tummy to her back, but on Wednesday (2.23.11) she rolled over from her back to her tummy! She completely surprised me. While I was changing her diaper she was wriggling around trying to reach the wipes container (making it very difficult to put on a new diaper) and then all of a sudden she was on her stomach! Woohoo!

My Valentine's Day

 How does she know.. he loves her?
How does she know that you really, truely love her?

It's not enough to take the one you love for granted
You must remind her, or she'll be inclined to say...
"How do I know he loves me?" 


Well does he leave a little note to tell you you are on his mind?
Send you yellow flowers when the sky is grey?

He'll find a new way to show you, a little bit everyday

I didn't expect anything for valentines day because Jeff has been working really long hours everyday, 6 days a week. But, Jeff is so sweet and picked up yellow flowers for me on his way home from the hospital. Ever since we saw Enchanted, when the sky is gray, Jeff always buys me yellow flowers.  I have the sweetest husband in the whole world.

The best valentines gift, though, was from Christine. She briefly woke up at 6 to eat and went back to sleep until 9 am!!!! She is an EARLY riser and letting me sleep-in for so long was incredible. I forgot what it felt like to feel well-rested! Now if only I could get her to do it for me more often.
