What's in your purse?

Have you ever heard of the party game where you basically have a scavenger hunt with the things in your purse?  I mean, I have never played that game, but Angela tells me this is a game you can play at baby showers and other such parties.  I do think it is revealing what people carry in their purses.  There was a Boy Meets World episode where Shawn falls in love with Angela after he finds her purse and looks through the contents.  Let's see if I fall in love.

At first glance, you might think this was Angela's purse.  When in fact this clutch was packed entirely independently by Christine.  Lets examine the contents.

Mommy's keys.  Mommy can never find her keys so Christine will keep them safe for her.  A broken I-pod which is now Christine's play cell phone.  Mommy keeps her cell phone in her purse, so Christine will too.  A baby bottle because mommy keeps a bottle for Christine in her purse. 

and last but not least an Altoids container.

Christine is not totally sure what these are, but they make a cool rattling noise and have pretty writing on them, and Mommy is always opening it and eating things from it.

If I could just get them open!

I think the contents of Christine's purse reveal a lot about her; she wants to be just like her Mommy.  That makes me fall in love with her.

Things that she could not fit into her purse but really wanted to.  (Just like her Mommy she always wants a bigger purse!)

Jelly beans of course.



Her favorite books, a bottle of orange juice, and her doll house chairs and tables.  I'm not sure why she is fascinated by these items so much, but she carries them around everywhere.

If you are very observant you will notice that Christine's dress is on inside out in these pictures.  Yes, we are now to the "I love dressing myself stage" :)  Little kids are so cute as they try to imitate their parents.

Hurricane Season

It's hurricane season, and that means it is time to get prepared!
Christine, having already lived through the apartment flooding last year, has taken it upon herself to get her and her little ones prepared.  (None of these pictures were staged.  This is truly how Christine recommends we all get prepared.)

Christine's Lecture on Emergency Preparedness

First, gather everyone together to explain what to do in the case of a hurricane or a flood.  Take roll,
"Tangy Bear, Lamb Chops, and Baby doll.  Good everyone is present."

Then you must gather together everything you could possibly need if you had no running water, electricity, or access to stores for 72 hours.  You don't have to copy my list exactly, but I've pretty much covered all the essentials. (oh, and its best to keep these essentials in a pretty purse because it's practical and looks good).

 In my purse I put an enormous bag of jelly bellies for food, a baby bottle with fake milk for my baby doll, and ranch dressing which has enough calories to feed us for 72 hours.

Now it is essential that you dress properly during an emergency.  You need rubber boots to keep your feet dry, your purse full of your essentials, and your Dora shirt because it matches your boots.  Pants are not recommended if you're in a flood.  They can get wet and add a lot of weight.  I prefer just wearing a diaper!  It keeps you cool and dry.  You could also wear Dora panties if you are potty trained.

You also don't want to be bored so you should bring some reading material and a pretty necklace to play dress up with.  Lamb chops gets cold so I'm going to bring a small blanket.

 Now it's time for role-playing.  If the apartment starts flooding, we would all pile into this big basket in my bedroom (this is also a good spot to hide during tornadoes and when Dad is vacuuming)

Then I climb in on top.

And now you we are all prepared for hurricane season! 

 If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear.

Mommy Shoes

It's been quiet over here on the blog. We haven't been up to much. Jeff is doing his OBGyn rotation right now. During his weeks of Labor and Delivery he got to deliver a bunch of babies (so exciting!) and now he is ready to deliver our next baby (yep-I definitely want Jeff to deliver our babies)

While Jeff is at the hospital, Christine and I play at home. Christine has recently discovered all the "mommy shoes" in my closet, and loves to pull them out and wear them around the house.

A little secret

Have you noticed that I finally stopped posting every other week about my latest craft projects? I thought I should take them to a place of their own. Their own little blog. It's not a real blog, but sometimes I fantasize about it becoming something. 

I named it after Zuzzy (The blue guy here, more formally known as zizzer zazzer zuzz)

Zuzzy's given me the chance to participate more in the blogging community. I don't exactly want to send strangers over here to look at my craft projects along with our family stories. I'm just getting it going, I started it two months ago. This week I entered three pairs of shorts that I designed and sewed into a blogging contest called "Shorts on the Line." The event is being hosted by three bloggers, and each blogger is featuring their favorite entries yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Yesterday my box pleat shorts were featured  on Imagine Gnats. Then today my peplum shorts were featured on Small and Friendly. It's an understatement to say I was excited. There are some amazing prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of this contest and for the "reader's choice" award. The reader's choice will be determined by voting this weekend. So I will let you all know on Friday how to vote! 


Now the secret is out!
