Day 1

This morning we woke up and said goodbye to our home, hopped in the moving van and headed towards New Mexico. We had no idea what awaited us. Turns out New Mexico is just as amazing as Wyoming. Utah on the other hand had some beautiful sites we enjoyed driving past.

One last good bye to the beautiful mountains of Utah.

I really enjoyed driving through southern Utah around arches national park.

Then we drove and drove. We knew we had reached New Mexico when we saw tumble weeds blowing across the road (Seriously!). During our 11 hour car ride today we learned a few interesting things: Do you know the name for those bumpy things in the road that make a terrible sound when you drive over them to wake you up if you are falling asleep??? They are called "Rumble strips." And we learned from several signs that a stretch of highway near Price, Utah is patrolled by aircraft! We were very careful to watch our speed so an airplane or helicopter wouldn't pull us over! (seriously, how would that work???). Third, Snoopy has a thrift store in Colorado. Fourth, New Mexico may be the real location of Andalasia since its welcome sign informs all who pass that New Mexico is the "Land of Enchantment"When I look at New Mexico, I definitely think land of enchantment!

Day 0

Today is the day before the big move to Texas. We received so much help, especially from my family (Thank you guys SO much!!!). We began the day with our entire living room filled with boxes and boxes of stuff. I have no idea where it all came from! We picked up our moving truck, filled it with our furniture and boxes, and then cleaned our apartment inside out! The worst part- definitely behind the refrigerator! SCARY!

We have loved living here in Provo, but it is time to move on. I am going to miss it. (I have lived in Provo for 5 years now, it doesn't seem that long)

The hardest part was saying goodbye to all of our friends and family. We are going to miss watching the office with our good friends Andrea and Forest (enjoy your beef stick guys!!! We will look for those all-natural Cheetos in Texas!)

Our itinerary:
Tuesday- driving from Provo, UT to Albuquerque, NM
Wednesday- Albuquerque to Temple, TX (We're excited to see your new house Ali!)
Thursday- Temple to San Antonio where we get to meet our new sister-in-law Dana, and niece Berkeley
Friday- San Antonio to Houston, TX! Our new home!

Late posting

It's been a while since I have posted. I have been busy packing and cleaning and getting ready for the big move! These are late, but I wanted to say them anyways:
Happy Easter! Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter. We had a great time and enjoyed our favorite delicious Easter treats. Welcome Spring!!!! We are so lucky, outside our appartment window is a gorgeous cherry tree, and the blossoms on it were like a dream. I loved just laying on my bed with the window open feeling the bright, happy sun shine on my face as I listen to the birds chirp!!!

Dinasaur Park + Kites

2 weeks ago Jeff and I almost became a dinosaur snack! Don't worry- Jeff protected me from the T-Rex!

Actually, it was the 3rd annual Salas family reunion. Usually we go camping together in the summer, but Jeff and I are throwing everything off by moving to Texas. My family loves us so much that they put together a big Saturday o' fun as a substitute for the reunion. For this Saturday O' Fun we went to Dinosaur park: imagine Jurassic park but with more dinosaurs. It was great to spend time together as a whole family! (Obviously we are all doing our best dinosaur impressions!)Jeff made friends with one of the dinosaurs. Don't you think his ears look a little big in that hat?

Did you know what the world's most dangerous creature is? Well now you know!

After Dinosaur Park and lunch, we went kite flying! Jeff and I were on a team flying the kite with the flag on it. In this picture it is a little low, but after a little while, ours was the highest kite!! Definitely beating the Elmo and Iron Man kites.
